As anyone in the vicinity of Chudleigh Town Hall will probably have heard, we had a wonderful night on Saturday at the Annual Variety Concert, if a little snug, and raised over £800 towards the Christmas Lights Fund.
A massive thank you to everyone who took part, especially Gina Sherwood, for organising the programme, and Tank Sherman, for acting as Compere for the evening. Girls Allowed Out wowed us with two dances; Gina, Lisa Smith and Millie Rees all sang beautifully, as did newcomer to the Chudfest bill, Paul Robinson. Black Magic, singing for the first time in 11 years, and The Chudleigh Shanty Men, singing in public for the first time, had the room roaring with laughter and then roaring for more! And as for magician, Peter Baffles: he had the room in stitches, a couple of Chudleigh ladies blushing hotly – and everyone mystified by where the doves disappeared to at the end of the show.
Thanks also to the Chudleigh businesses who supplied prizes for the raffle: Bishop Lacy; Chudleigh DIY; Chudleigh Phoenix Publications; Cutting Room; Dandelion; Devon Metal Detectors; Haldon Forest Diner; Harveys of Chudleigh; Heathside Tutors; Lloyds Chemist; Paradise; Passion Boutique; Pets Corner; Quest for Zest; The Bali Room; The Furniture Barn; Valerie Anne Hair Fashions.
Finally, we are very grateful to the Town Hall staff for being so helpful and to James Tatum for letting us disrupt his weekend workshop.
We’ll do it all again next year.
