Countdown to Chudfest: 5 days to go

Countdown 5

Sunday’s a day of rest, so there won’t be too much preparation going on today, although Michael is walking around with that puzzled look on his face which always means he’s working on another round for the Quiz Night.

I don’t know what the topics are going to be this year, but at least they will all be in English; it’s only for the Twinning Quiz that he attempts to write them in French! There are no tickets for this event; you just turn up and pay your £1 on the door. Come as a ready-made team, or come on your own and join a group when you get there. Have a bite to eat in the break if you wish. This is a relaxed, informal event with the minimum of rules and lots of laughter and discussion of contested answers. Make a date in your diary for Monday 6th July.

And if you can’t wait until next weekend for the festivities to begin, there are a couple of events going on in Chudleigh today which are worth supporting. The new skate park is being officially opened by comedian and broadcaster Tony Hawks at 12 noon. This is a great new facility in town, and if you’ve not seen it yet, it’s well worth a look.

Then between 3pm and 5pm, Patricia Johnson-King will be hosting one of her famous cream teas in the garden of Oakfield Coach House on Exeter Road. Proceeds will go to Chudleigh Youth Centre.

Finally, a word of congratulations to the Chudleigh Carnival Royalty and supporters. At the opening event of the season, in South Brent, they won three first prizes: for the float, the Queen of Queens, and for the attendants. Well done everyone – and here’s to continued success throughout the summer.

Now, where did I put my Chudfest planning list…?
