Yesterday’s produce show was the most successful to date in terms of numbers of entries, up from 150 last year to well over 200 this year. We even had to add more tables as late-comers arrived with bags, trays and boxes of garden produce and baked goods.
If you want to hear about successes in individual classes, you only have to look at FaceBook; it’s alive this morning with pictures of fruit, vegetables and cakes plus the resulting certificates. But this year’s winners in the different sections were as follows:

(From left) Petrina Frost, Beryl Parkes, Mayor Richard Keeling, Evelyn Marsden, Vicky Macnair
Children’s Classes: Henry Funnell
Vegetables and Fruit: Beryl Parkes
Kitchen Produce: Vicky Macnair
Eggs: Petrina Frost
Flowers: Ian Gill
Floral Art: Evelyn Marsden

Beryl Parkes (above) took the title of overall winner. And in a new initiative this year, David Luxton (below, right) won the prize for the best kept allotment.

Thanks to everyone who entered and congratulations to all the winners. See you all next year.
