Every year, during Chudfest, individuals and organisations raise money for good causes. Town Councillor and former Mayor, Chris Webb, is a staunch supporter of vulnerable young people and each year, he finds a novel way to fund-raise. This year he will be spending two nights, Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th July, sleeping rough under the stairway at Chudleigh Town Hall.
The sleep-out will be in aid of the Chudleigh Youth Centre and the Teignbridge Homeless Action Today, a charity based in Newton Abbot.
Chris says: ‘Many people are currently sleeping on the streets in Teignbridge for many reasons. This includes young people, so I see a link between Youth Centres and this charity for the Homeless’.
You can find sponsorship forms at the Chudfest Box Office and in Harveys. Bill Keen and Sue Metcalfe both have copies. You can pop in to T.H.A.T Charity Office, which is at 8 Queensway House, Queensway, Buckland Newton Abbot and opens between 10am and 1pm weekdays. Or contact Chris on 07968508451.
Chris, good luck; we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it doesn’t rain on you.
